A charter member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and the oldest accredited art department in the Southeast, Auburn’s Department of Art & Art History is a vibrant community of accomplished artists, art historians and talented students. We offer comprehensive programs in studio art and art history that prepare students for careers in the visual arts and other cultural and creative fields.
Our faculty members are committed to outstanding teaching, artistic practice and research. Their areas of expertise reflect the full range of studio art practices and approaches to art historical scholarship. Studio art faculty exhibit nationally and internationally, and their work is held in significant museums and collections. Art history faculty publish with respected presses and journals, work with established cultural institutions and lecture widely. All faculty are dedicated to mentoring the next generation of artists and art historians.
