The 2026 Juried Fine Art Student Exhibition

March 23 – April 1, 2026

Biggin Gallery’s annual Juried Fine Art Student Exhibition features selected artworks by current art students, and an awards presentation featuring the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and a distinguished guest juror. Student artworks are eligible for many awards, including the Dean’s Choice Purchase Award, the Davis-Frye Annual Award in Art, and the Department of Art & Art History Merit Awards.

Eligibility: Students must have been enrolled in Fall 2025 and/or Spring 2026 ARTS classes in the Department of Art & Art History. Artworks produced in Spring 2025 after the 2025 juried exhibition call for art, and current Senior Project candidate thesis works, are eligible.

Entry deadline: Monday, March 2, 2026, 12:00 p.m. CST

About the Guest Juror

Jade Powers is the Hugh Kaul Curator of Contemporary Art at the Birmingham Museum of Art (BMA). Her work spotlights contemporary artists’ negotiations with history and the ways art reconsiders and reframes historical narratives. At the BMA, she oversees the growth, care, and presentation of the museum’s contemporary art collection, which includes more than 3,000 works.

Her recent and forthcoming projects include Roll Call: 200 Years of Black American Art (opening September 2026), Marks of Intention, and Interwoven: Stories in Fiber and Form. Prior to joining the BMA, Powers served as Curator of Contemporary Art at the Harn Museum of Art in Gainesville, Florida, and as Assistant Curator at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, Missouri.

Notable exhibitions include Dyani White Hawk: Speaking to Relatives (2021), The Regional (2021), Joiri Minaya: Divergences (2020), and Deconstructing Marcus Jansen (2018). A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Powers holds a master’s degree from Indiana University Bloomington and a bachelor’s degree from DePauw University.
