While we hope that every student has a positive experience while attending Auburn, there are avenues for reporting incidents you may experience. The School of Communication and Journalism encourages students to report all incidents.

Below are just a few of the university policies and means of reporting incidents. For a full list of university policies for faculty, staff, and students, visit the Auburn University Policies webpage.

Auburn University Bias Education and Response Team (BERT)

The Bias Education and Response Team (BERT) consists of a cross-disciplinary group of staff and faculty who ensure students, faculty and staff have the means to report bias incidents, share information about incidents reported to the BERT, and advocate for prevention and awareness programs. BERT members will also connect those impacted by bias-related incidents with immediate and ongoing support resources.

Crime and Emergency Reporting Policy

This AU policy states “To help promote a safe and secure environment, as well as enable prompt response, resolution and timely notification to the campus community, all crimes and emergencies should be properly reported.” If you witness or are the victim of a crime, please contact law enforcement immediately.

Reporting Hazing Incidents

Auburn University seeks to ensure that hazing is not permitted as part of the experience of being a student, a member, or potential member of an organization, an advisor, an athlete, a volunteer, or a person otherwise affiliated with the University community. There are several options for reporting a suspected hazing violation including: reporting incidents to law enforcement, contacting Student Conduct, calling the AU Hazing Hotline at 1-866-294-4871 (secured by the anonymous reporting site Ethics Point) or submitting a report online at https://secure.ethicspoint.com/domain/media/en/gui/7852/index.html

Title IX Sexual Misconduct & Harassment

Auburn University is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination and harassment on the basis of sex, which includes all forms of sexual misconduct. The Title IX website provides comprehensive information resources and support for students, faculty and staff, including how to report incidents of discrimination, harassment or gender-based misconduct.
