What is Core in Rome?
Wander through the Eternal City’s iconic piazzas and monuments with a local guide, then take a glimpse into Ancient Rome on guided tours of the Colosseum and Roman Forum all while receiving university core credits. Core in Rome is designed to engage students both inside and outside the classroom, fostering intellectual growth while supporting personal development. The program is directed on-site by a member of the College of Liberal Arts faculty.
Who can participate?
- Any major is eligible to participate.
- No foreign language skills required.
- Students are required to have a passport valid through at least December 2027.

Academic Program and Requirements
TOTAL CREDITS: 6–12 credits
Full Summer Option: 4 courses (12 credits)
Half Summer Option (Summer 1 or Summer 2): 2 courses (6 credits)

Program Fees
Full Summer Option: $15,400
Summer 1 Option: $7,700

Program fees include:
- AU coursework credit hour
- Apartment housing in Rome
- Rome public transportation pass
- Some meals included in itinerary
- Admission to cultural sites, attractions and course relevant programming
- Day trips
