Timothy McCallister specializes in early modern Spanish literature. His research centers on the religious thought of early modern Spanish authors who worked beyond the boundaries of professional religious life. Figures of interest include Miguel de Cervantes and Juan de Valdés. He is currently preparing a monograph on the nature of the sacred and profane in the literature of Cervantes.
Professor McCallister has taught graduate seminars on Don Quijote and the self in Golden Age Spain.
