Caroline Marshall Draughon Center announces audio tour of plants and trees at Pebble Hill

The Caroline Marshall Draughon Center in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University invites visitors to learn about 13 plants and trees at Pebble Hill through a self-guided audio tour narrated by Coach Bruce Pearl.

The tour is free and open to the public. Visitors can pick up a map at the designated kiosk at the driveway loop entrance and use a smartphone to scan the QR codes posted at each plant location. Selected plants include ones common to many gardens, as well as one tree, Franklinia alatamaha, which is extinct in the forest. Many of the facts and stories related to the cultural history of the selections, however, will be new to visitors.

“We chose plants and trees with unique stories that illustrate important relationships between humans and the natural world,” said Center Director Mark Wilson. “Coach Pearl is quite a gardener himself, and we appreciate his help making these landscape stories come alive for visitors.”
