Sociology student awards call for nominations
Nomination Deadline: April 2, 2024
All Sociology majors and minors are encouraged to apply to these awards. Fall and spring 2024 graduates are welcome to apply. Self-nominations are accepted.
Social Justice Award
This award is presented to a Sociology student who has demonstrated leadership abilities within the program, community or university, and a commitment and dedication to the ideals of social justice through their activities. Nominations may be submitted by faculty and students.
Excellence in Sociology Award
This award is presented to a Sociology senior who demonstrates a) academic excellence reflected in a high GPA in sociology courses and b) current or future potential for professional achievement (conference participation, sociology-related internships, etc.).
Alumni Award
This award is presented to a former undergraduate or graduate student from our program, who has achieved recognition in their community and/or their fields of practice after graduation.
All award nominations should include a letter with the following information:
- Name of the award
- Description of the qualifications of the student nominated for the award
- Contact information for both the nominee and the nominator (email address(es), office on campus if applicable)
- An unofficial transcript and GPA information: overall GPA and GPA in sociology courses must be calculated by the student. The nominator (if different from the nominee) must request the student to provide the required GPA information separately
