The Oaks Agency collaborates with PR Advisory Council to host Spring PR Day
Auburn University’s PR Advisory Council hosted Spring PR Day for The Oaks Agency members in Melton Student Center on Friday, Feb. 20.
The Oaks Agency is Auburn University’s student-run public relations agency. The organization works with 13 clients to develop specialized plans that meet client needs and deliver effective results. Working with both academic units and businesses in the community, students gain public relations experience, develop skills and network with industry professionals.
“The Oaks Agency aims to equip Auburn students with the skills necessary for their future careers,” said Terri Knight, Oaks Agency adviser and senior PR lecturer.
PR Day began with a presentation titled “Client Relations 101,” followed by a panel discussion, a Q&A session and networking opportunities. Pam Powers-Smith, president and CEO of the Rome Floyd Chamber of Commerce, led the presentation. Panelists included Campbell Govignon, account executive at BBDO; Chelsea Grund, social media director at UPS; and Tuan Huynh, vice president at Melissa Libby & Associates.
The presentations were especially beneficial for The Oaks Agency members. The discussion covered many client relation scenarios where members were given practical advice from professionals who shared their own experiences in the PR field. Events such as PR Day are great opportunities for The Oaks Agency members to strengthen their skills.
